44 BCE at Magic City Con 2021

Kelly, Holt, and I attend Magic City Con over Father’s Day weekend. This was the first time we brought 44 BCE and showed it to the general public. We did not know what to expect but were hoping to introduce 44 BCE to a few new people. We had an incredible time, made some new friends, got great feedback, gave away some t-shirts, and are ready to head to our next con as soon as possible! Check out our Magic City Con 2021 Gallery to see all of our pictures!

It was incredible to meet so many folks at our booth, in the hallways, and at the game tables. I love experiencing everyone’s interest in 44 BCE. Two things really stood out to me. The first is that virtually everyone we met had a genuine interest in helping us get this game published! We met convention organizers, game library curators, game designers, Twitch streamers, YouTubers, and your average board game enthusiasts. Each offered helpful suggestions about bringing 44 BCE to a larger audience. It was clear that everyone appreciated the hard work that has gone into getting to the point that 44 BCE is today. Additionally, there was a desire by so many folks to help us move this project forward!

The other thing that stood out to me was the appreciation that everyone had for the history built into the game! We have worked to try to keep history relevant in the game, down to using actual coins minted by Brutus after he assassinated Julius Caesar. So many folks were interested in history, some even suggesting that 44 BCE could be a learning tool for children. That’s an idea that we love by the way!

We found out about so many upcoming conventions, and cannot wait to figure out where we are headed next! If you were not able to join us at Magic City Con, we hope you will be able to make it to our next con!

Finally, I want to offer a huge THANK YOU to all of our friends and family that came out to Magic City Con 2021 to help us! We had so much help in manning our booth, teaching rules, playing in games, and taking pictures; we are truly incredibly grateful for all of our friends offering to help with this endeavor! We cannot wait to get to the next one!
